Monster Design!

Did you know that ZEXAL is currently accepting submissions for monster designs in the show’s announcements?
Some of you might have already sent in your designs, while others might still be staring at a blank sheet of paper, lost in thought.
As for me—well, I’ve designed so many monsters that I’ve pretty much forgotten what I’ve already made.
But I thought I’d share a few thoughts and tips about how I go about designing them!

Step 1: Think about who will control this monster.
Do you want your own deck to shine with it?
Or maybe you want it to belong to your favorite character?
It could even be designed for one of your friends!
Step 2: Think about the type of Duelist it fits.
Is the Duelist a champion of justice?
A dark, cool-headed type?
Do they use warrior-types, spellcasters, dragons, machines, or even cute monsters?
Anything is fine—just pick a theme!
Step 3: Consider how the monster attacks.
Does it use weapons?
Does it breathe fire?
Is it high in ATK, or kind of weak but has a special finishing move?
Come up with a name and special move too!
Step 4: Draw the outline.
Maybe it’s chunky and round, or has a triangle-shaped head.
Give it horns, wings, extra arms or legs—go wild!
Even four arms or legs is okay!
Then, fill in the eyes, mouth, and other details—and just like that, your original monster is born!

It may sound easy, but I know doing it can be tough.
Still, if you keep drawing, you’ll definitely improve.
Whether or not it’ll help with your future career, though... who knows?
There are many amazing artists designing the monsters and cards for ZEXAL now, so I’ve personally been designing fewer of them myself.
But I’m comfortable letting them take over—it’s in good hands!
The deadline for the monster design submissions is the end of May.
So for all you future designers out there—give it your best shot!

オレもモンスターはもう何がなんだか忘れちゃった程、たくさんデザインしてきたけど、自分なりにデザインする時に考える事とかアドバイスしちゃおう！
ZEXALのモンスターやカードデザインは上手い方がたくさんいらっしゃるので、最近はオレのデザインは少なくなってきました。じょじょにオレの手は離れていくけど安心してます！

ZEXAL的节目公告里，我们正在向各位征集怪兽设计图！
大家知道吗？
有些人可能已经把设计发过来了，有些人可能现在还对着桌上的白纸苦思冥想呢。
俺自己设计怪兽已经到了忘记自己设计过啥的程度了，但还是可以跟大家说一下自己设计的时候想的东西和建议神马的！
首先是设计之前，想一下你想让谁操纵那张卡上的怪兽吧。
是想让它在自己的卡组里大出风头呢，还是想让喜欢的角色拥有它呢。
也可以是你身边的朋友哦。
然后那名决斗者的怪兽到底是正义的使者呢，还是有点暗质的冷酷型呢，
或者是人类剑士、魔法使之类，又或是龙族、机甲系列、可爱型什么都可以了总之就挑一个！
再者它是用什么武器攻击，或者它会从口里喷出火焰，攻击力很高吗，还是说稍微弱一点，把必杀技和怪兽的名字也决定下来吧！
当这些都决定好了，就先试着画个轮廓。
是胖乎乎的体型呢，或者是三角形的头，身上带角啊翅膀啊什么都好，手脚可以各有4只，什么都OK！
然后画上眼和口之类的细节，原创怪兽就做出来了！
说得简单，做起来可能不是那么容易，不过我想画得多的话，就肯定会有进步哦。
不过，不知道会不会对你将来的事业有帮助就对了。
ZEXAL的怪兽和卡片设计有很多优秀的人在做，所以俺的设计也变少了。
现在我慢慢放手让他们做也可以放心了！
怪兽设计的征集截止时间是5月末。
以未来的设计师为目标好好努力吧！（和希）
