Every day, I keep living life as if it’s at a rolling boil.

My brain’s spacing out, and even my thoughts seem to be stalling.

Everyone — please be careful and take precautions against heatstroke too!

Anyway, after updating the website, things kind of stalled here as well...

But finally, the American comic-style ADVENT HEROES series is about to be released!

Since I wanted the pages to turn in the Western (left-to-right) style,

we ended up spending a lot of time adjusting the system for that! (Sweat...)

Back in the early Yu-Gi-Oh! volumes, I used to include little games in the bonus sections.

Ever since then, we’ve been doing a bit of game development in the Studio Dice.

ADVENT HEROES is actually one of those games.

When I tried playing it with my team, it was actually quite fun, so I thought: why not publish it on the website for everyone to try?

It’s a card game played with a regular deck of playing cards, so it's pretty eco-friendly too!

ADVENT HEROES is a comic adaptation based on that game, with a good dash of American comic flair — a very experimental project.

I think it’ll be ready for release soon, so please drop by the site when you have some free time and check it out!

遊戯王の初期の単行本でよくおまけページにゲームを載せてたことがありました。その後もダイスではちょこちょこゲームを考案したりしてまして、今回のADVENT HEROESもそんなゲームのひとつです。

脑袋发起呆，思路也似乎停滞了。

好，网站改版之后这边也停滞不前了

美漫风超有趣的ADVENT HEROES系列也终于要公开了，但因为想将翻页改成美漫式左开，所以系统改版又花不少时间了！（汗）

游戏王初期的单行本里我经常在附录里附上游戏。

打那以后DICE工作室里也有开发点游戏，这次的ADVENT HEROES也是那些游戏里的其中一个。

跟同事一起试着玩一下还是挺有趣的，所以才想到在网站上公布看看。

因为是用扑克玩的游戏，还挺环保的。

ADVENT HEROES是根据游戏改编，在故事里加上美漫风味的相当有实验性的作品。

我想很快就可以公布出来了，闲暇的时候就请过来瞧瞧吧！（和希）

The homepage for STUDIO DICE has a brand new look now, and it’s even viewable on smartphones! Please check it out and enjoy!

I’ve gained so much strength from all the encouraging emails you’ve sent me.

From here on out, I’ll be working even harder!

Now that I think about it, the reason I built this homepage in the first place was because so many fans were asking me to release an artbook.

Back then, since I didn’t have a lot of material, I thought maybe I could digitally redraw some of the older color pages... but it turned out to be really tough, so I gave up on that.

That’s when I got the idea to add a GALLERY section to the site.

That way, everyone could always view my artwork at any time — I figured that would be pretty nice.

Even now, I still get lots of emails saying they want me to publish an artbook. To respond to those wishes, I’ll work harder and draw even more illustrations.

Also, please look forward — just a little — to a fun and creative new project I’ll be trying out soon!

俺从各位的声援邮件里得到了力量，从今往后会加紧继续努力！

想起来，我建这主页的契机，是大量的粉丝希望出画集的呼声。

那个时候因为作品数量很少，就想着把以前的彩页用数位方法重新画一下，不过因为做起来非常困难所以放弃了。

于是就因此想起在主页弄个GALLERY栏目。

这样随时都能让大家看见我的画了应该不错吧。

很高兴到现在也仍然还有很多邮件过来，说希望我能出画集。

为了回应这些呼声，我会加紧多画点图的。

The updates on the official site are gradually moving along.

A new project will soon be revealed to everyone, and it might just be the final form of my manga.

No, actually… since it’s more of an experimental piece, it might not even qualify as “manga.” It’s American comics!

My goal is BD! (Translator’s note: possibly short for "bound/deluxe edition" or a specific format style)

Maybe it's because my family originally did architectural painting, but I get the itch if I don't color everything in completely — maybe that kind of DNA got passed on to me too.

The artists I respect are: Drew Struzan, Adam Hughes, John Van Fleet, and Mike Mignola!

Among them, I’ve been a fan of Drew Struzan for a very long time.

I went crazy collecting the movie posters he did, like for Star Wars!

When his exhibition came to Japan, I made a beeline to the venue to get his autograph!

And then, one day — a dreamlike opportunity came my way:

Drew himself actually drew Yu-Gi-Oh! for me!!

Due to contractual rules, I can’t publicly show it, but… the self-indulgence is just too amazing!

It’s my greatest treasure, and I’ve hung it in a secret place.

His drawing of Yugi looks way cooler than mine, and I felt so frustrated! It was a serious blow!

Around that time, the idea of the bunkoban (deluxe re-release) came up, and I thought: why not try drawing the covers in that kind of style myself?

But, as expected, I’m still nah — nowhere near his level...!

Even so, thanks to that, I discovered a new direction in art, and I had a blast drawing.

Right now, Japan is going through hard times, so the theme of my new project is “Revival.”

It’ll still take a little while, but please look forward to it!

オレの描いた遊戯よりもはるかにかっこ良くてくやしいくらいでした！もうショック！ちょうどその頃、文庫版のお話をいただいて自分なりに表紙を描きおろしてみようと挑戦したわけです。だがまだまだ、足下にも及びません、、、！

官方站的更新正徐徐进行中。

新作品很快就能跟大家见面，那可能就是俺漫画的最终形态。

不对，这不过是实验性质的作品还称不上漫画吧。美漫！

俺的目标是BD！

可能因为我们家本来是搞建筑涂饰吧，所以画画不全部涂上颜色就会技痒，这个DNA可能也粘到俺这来了。

俺所尊敬的画家是 Drew Struzan, Adam Hughes, John Van Fleet和Mike Mignola！

其中Drew Struzan是俺很久以前就开始粉他了，他画的STAR WARS神马的电影海报是俺发了狂去收集的东西！

他的作品展示会到日本的时候我也铁定会奔去会场抢签名！

某日，一个梦幻般的机会降临了，Drew本人竟然给我画游戏王了！

虽然因为规约的关系不能公开展示，不过这自我陶醉实在太美妙了！

这是俺最棒的宝贝，俺把它藏在一个秘密的地方挂起来了。

比起我画的游戏帅太多了，不甘心呐！受打击呀！

刚好那个时候说起文库版的事，于是就想自己画封面挑战一下这种画风。

可是果然还是MADAMADA，难以望其项背，，，！

不过，也多得这样我发现了绘画的新方向，俺画得很欢乐。

现在日本正是困难时期，于是我的作品的主题就是【复活】。

虽然还要花点时间，但还是敬请期待吧！（和希）

The day before yesterday, I went to Kageyama-kun's party to celebrate the end of the Yu-Gi-Oh! GX manga serialization.

He had been serializing it in V JUMP for 5 years and 3 months — that’s a long time!

He really worked hard!

Many people involved with Yu-Gi-Oh! came as well, and it had been a long time since we had such a lively gathering.

I even got copies of the GX and ZEXAL manga volumes~!

Actually, Kageyama-kun and Miyoshi-kun have been close friends for 20 years, and they were already acquainted before Kageyama-kun came to work as my assistant.

When I first heard that, I was really surprised~!

Back when I was still serializing, Miyoshi-kun also wanted to come work as an assistant at STUDIO DICE,

but I think we already had enough staff at the time, so I turned him down...

I super regret that now!

But Miyoshi-kun is now also helping draw the ZEXAL manga, and I think it’s amazing how people are connected through fate.

It seems Kageyama-kun started preparing for his next work right after GX ended, and I’m really looking forward to it!

Seeing how Kageyama and Ito, who both became independent from STUDIO DICE, are now so active, I feel truly proud!

先日、影山くんの漫画GXの連載終了記念パーティーに行ってきましたよ。Vジャンプで５年３ヶ月にも及ぶ長期連載ほんとお疲れさま！

実は影山くんと三好くんは、２０年来の友人同士で、影山くんがオレのアシスタントをしてくれていた以前からの付き合いで、最初にその話聞いた時はビックリしたな〜！

オレが連載してる時、三好くんがダイスのアシスタントを希望してくれていたのに、オレはなんと人が足りていると断ってしまったらしく、すげ〜後悔しました！でも三好くんは現在ZEXALの漫画を描いてくれているのだから、人の縁て不思議なものです。

影山くんはGXのあと、次の作品に早速とりかかってるようなのでおれも楽しみにしてます！ダイスを独立した影山ッちや伊藤ッちが活躍しているのはほんとうれしいことです！

前天，俺去了影山君的漫画GX连载结束纪念派对哟。

在V JUMP长时间连载了5年零3个月，真是辛苦他了！

游戏王的工作人员也来了好多人，好久没有过这样的盛况了。

俺还拿到了GX和ZEXAL的单行本哦~！

其实影山君和三好君是相识20年的基友了，早在影山君来俺这做助手之前他们就结识了，当初听见这事的时候我都吓了一跳呢~！

虽然在俺连载的时候，三好君也希望来STUDIO DICE做助手，但俺那时好像是因为人手足够了所以拒绝了，超~后悔啊！

但三好君现在也帮忙画起了ZEXAL的漫画，人与人的缘分真是不可思议。

影山君好像在GX完结之后就马上开始准备下一部作品了，俺很期待！

看见从STUDIO DICE独立出去得影山仔和伊藤仔这么活跃，俺真是很欣慰！（和希）

Did you know that ZEXAL is currently accepting submissions for monster designs in the show’s announcements?

Some of you might have already sent in your designs, while others might still be staring at a blank sheet of paper, lost in thought.

As for me—well, I’ve designed so many monsters that I’ve pretty much forgotten what I’ve already made.

But I thought I’d share a few thoughts and tips about how I go about designing them!

---

Step 1: Think about who will control this monster.

Do you want your own deck to shine with it?

Or maybe you want it to belong to your favorite character?

It could even be designed for one of your friends!

Step 2: Think about the type of Duelist it fits.

Is the Duelist a champion of justice?

A dark, cool-headed type?

Do they use warrior-types, spellcasters, dragons, machines, or even cute monsters?

Anything is fine—just pick a theme!

Step 3: Consider how the monster attacks.

Does it use weapons?

Does it breathe fire?

Is it high in ATK, or kind of weak but has a special finishing move?

Come up with a name and special move too!

Step 4: Draw the outline.

Maybe it’s chunky and round, or has a triangle-shaped head.

Give it horns, wings, extra arms or legs—go wild!

Even four arms or legs is okay!

Then, fill in the eyes, mouth, and other details—and just like that, your original monster is born!

It may sound easy, but I know doing it can be tough.

Still, if you keep drawing, you’ll definitely improve.

Whether or not it’ll help with your future career, though... who knows?

There are many amazing artists designing the monsters and cards for ZEXAL now, so I’ve personally been designing fewer of them myself.

But I’m comfortable letting them take over—it’s in good hands!

The deadline for the monster design submissions is the end of May.

So for all you future designers out there—give it your best shot!

ZEXAL的节目公告里，我们正在向各位征集怪兽设计图！

大家知道吗？

有些人可能已经把设计发过来了，有些人可能现在还对着桌上的白纸苦思冥想呢。

俺自己设计怪兽已经到了忘记自己设计过啥的程度了，但还是可以跟大家说一下自己设计的时候想的东西和建议神马的！

首先是设计之前，想一下你想让谁操纵那张卡上的怪兽吧。

是想让它在自己的卡组里大出风头呢，还是想让喜欢的角色拥有它呢。

也可以是你身边的朋友哦。

然后那名决斗者的怪兽到底是正义的使者呢，还是有点暗质的冷酷型呢，

或者是人类剑士、魔法使之类，又或是龙族、机甲系列、可爱型什么都可以了总之就挑一个！

再者它是用什么武器攻击，或者它会从口里喷出火焰，攻击力很高吗，还是说稍微弱一点，把必杀技和怪兽的名字也决定下来吧！

当这些都决定好了，就先试着画个轮廓。

是胖乎乎的体型呢，或者是三角形的头，身上带角啊翅膀啊什么都好，手脚可以各有4只，什么都OK！

然后画上眼和口之类的细节，原创怪兽就做出来了！

说得简单，做起来可能不是那么容易，不过我想画得多的话，就肯定会有进步哦。

不过，不知道会不会对你将来的事业有帮助就对了。

ZEXAL的怪兽和卡片设计有很多优秀的人在做，所以俺的设计也变少了。

现在我慢慢放手让他们做也可以放心了！

怪兽设计的征集截止时间是5月末。

It’s Golden Week, but I’m still holed up at home as usual, watching American comics.

Lately, it seems like watching American comics is kind of popular around here~!

Anyway, this site has now reached its 1-year anniversary.

Even though my updates have been really slow, I’m deeply grateful to all the fans who still drop by!

This past year has felt really long.

A lot has happened.

I launched this site while planning for ZEXAL, and now that the anime has started, I finally feel like I can breathe a little easier.

I still get emails now and then asking, “Will BUTTON continue?”

At the moment, I’ve decided to put BUTTON on hiatus.

Sorry to everyone who was looking forward to it.

I’ll try my best to bring it back someday.

Also, I’m thinking of reworking the design of this site a bit.

I plan to release unpublished color illustrations, ZEXAL setting materials, and even some basketball-related designs!

There will also be some new projects, so I hope everyone looks forward to that too.

For now, I’ll aim for another year—two years total!

Please continue to support me from here on out~!

この１年は長く感じた気がします。いろいろありました。ZEXAL企画中時期のホーム・ページ立ち上げだったのですが、今はアニメが始まってホッとしています。

お便りの中にBUTTONの続きついての質問がたまにありますが、しばらく更新をお休みさせていただいております。楽しみにして下さっていた皆様、すみません。いつか、また復活させられるよう頑張ります。

これから少しずつホーム・ページをリニューアルしようと考えてます。未発表のイラストとか、ZEXALの設定なんかも公開する予定です。あとボツ設定とかも！また、新しい企画も進行してますので、楽しみにしていただけたらと思います。

虽然说是黄金周，但是我还是风雨不改地做家里蹲，看美漫。

最近我们这里很流行看美漫呐~！（译注：ER，这句看不懂大概写一个可能的意思。）

于是乎，这个站也迎来了它开设一周年的日子。

虽然更新得相当拖拉，但是各位粉丝还是会过来踩，

实在是太感谢了！

这一年过起来感觉挺长的。发生了很多事呢。

这个站是在策划ZEXAL的时候建的。

现在动画已经开始了实在是松了一口气。

邮箱里时不时会有问BUTTON会不会继续的问题，我想暂时暂停更新。

要跟期待着更新的各位说声对不起了。

日后我会努力让它复活的。

现在，这个站我打算稍微改一下版。

The day before yesterday, I went to Akihabara, which I hadn’t visited in quite a while, together with the team from Studio Dice for a work meeting.

What surprised me most upon arrival was… there were absolutely no foreigners!

We wandered around inside Radio Kaikan, checking out figure shops, card shops, and all sorts of other stores—it was so much fun.

I stared through the display case at Kotobukiya’s Dark Magician Girl, and it felt so good to see her there.

We even have the exact same figure on display at our studio!

But sadly…

Radio Kaikan is apparently going to be demolished soon due to the aging structure.

They say the building is already 50 years old.

That makes me feel a little lonely.

Anyway, now I’m off to have dinner with Director Ono of 5D’s!

前天，因为工作商讨的缘故，我跟STUDIO DICE的各位一起去了好久没去过的秋叶原。

到达之后最惊讶的是，完全没有外国人啊~！

在RADIO会馆里转悠了一阵，看了手办卡片商店还有其他很多东西，好有趣。

隔着玻璃橱窗端详着寿屋的黑魔女，感觉真好。

即便是工作室里也摆着一个一摸一样的。

但是，很遗憾的是，RADIO会馆也因为楼体破旧要重建，好像很快就要拆卸了。

This new series has taken a 180-degree turn in tone compared to before, so I imagine fans must have all kinds of reactions.

But the story will push forward in true Yu-Gi-Oh! style, so I hope you'll all stay excited and keep watching!

Seeing Yuma and the others moving on screen, I found myself feeling a deep emotional connection.

About a year and a half ago,

I casually sketched a character in my notebook—that character turned out to be Astral.

At the time, I had no idea he’d appear in Yu-Gi-Oh! at all, but as the world and story started taking shape, suddenly I realized,

“Ah, so this is what that design was meant for.”

It was only about 10 months ago that I finalized the main characters and handed them over to the anime team.

So it feels like I’m reuniting with Yuma and the gang after quite some time.

Seeing them move so energetically on the TV screen makes me really happy.

At the same time, I can’t help but admire and say,

“Anime creators are amazing~!”

The OP and ED songs are so great too~!

I hope everyone looks forward to seeing where Yuma’s skyward journey will take him each week!

今回のシリーズも雰囲気がガラッと変わったので、ファンの皆さんの意見も様々だと思います。でも、この先もしっかり遊戯王らしく突き進んで行くので期待してほしいです！

１年半くらい前にたまたまスケッチブックに描きとめておいたキャラクターが実はアストラルで、最初は遊戯王に出すことは考えてなかったのですが、だんだん世界観が膨らんできたら、あコレありだわ！と。

10ヶ月くらい前に主なキャラクターを描いて、アニメスタッフにお渡ししました。それ以来の遊馬たちとの出会いなので、彼らが画面で元気に動きまわってるの見て、うれしい気持ちになりました！同時に、やはりアニメスタッフはすごいな〜と！

游戏王ZEXAL开始啦！

大家都看了吧？

这次这个系列的气氛有了个一百八十度的转变，我想各位粉丝也会有各种意见吧。

但是，这个故事会按照游戏王的风格继续突进，希望大家能继续期待！

虽然这次播出，俺看着游马一众角色动起来的身影，也会觉得有另一番深切的感慨呐~。

大概一年半之前，我偶尔在草稿本上撩下来的角色其实就是星光体，最初也没想过让他在游戏王里登场，但是随着世界观慢慢发展起来，就突然发现“啊，原来还有这设计。”

10个多月前才画好主要的角色，交给动画制作人。

这次与游马他们是时隔多日的重逢呢，看着他们在电视画面上充满元气地动着，我也会觉得很高兴！

同时，还是会觉得“动画人好厉害啊~！”

OP和ED的曲子好棒啊~！
